Swimming Carnival 2015

11/02/2015

Swimming Carnival

The annual North High Swimming Carnival is on Friday 13th February 2015.  Please note that this is a NORMAL SCHOOL DAY and all students are required to attend, even if they are not intending on participating.  There will be plenty of activities to earn points for their house, for those students not wishing to participate in ‘competitive’ events. Novelty events will also be held throughout the day, so every student has the opportunity to contribute to their house total no matter their swimming ability.

Students should arrive at school as normal, where RAS roles will be marked in the hall before students are bussed to Norville Pool.  There is no cost for either the bus or entry to the pool.  Senior students who drive to school will be required to leave their cars parked at school and will also be bussed to and from the venue.  Students should not go straight to the pool or they will be marked absent for the day.

Events will commence from approximately 9:10am and conclude at approximately 2:40pm where students will be bused back to school in time for the normal 3:05pm finish.

Presentations including overall results and age champions will be announced on parade in week four.

Students are encouraged to wear their house colours: MABBRO Red and Gold; MONDURAN Green and Gold; TIRROAN Blue and Gold; WALLA Gold and Black.  Clothing must be sunsafe and footwear must be worn.  If students choose not to wear house colours, they must wear their normal school uniform.  Although shade and sunscreen will be provided, we strongly encourage students to bring a broad brimmed hat, long sleeve and/or collared shirt and bring plenty of water.  Sunscreen should also be applied at home and it would be appreciated if families could remind their student about the reapplication of sunscreen throughout the day as well as drinking plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

The school canteen will be open from 8am for students wishing to buy breakfast.  The canteen at the Norville Pool will be operating on the day and this is an approved red food day for students.  Both food and drink will be available throughout the day for a small cost to students and their families.

We welcome parents and families are to attend and support their student/s at the carnival.  If you are planning on attending please bring along a folding chair and hat. It will be a great day !!
